Nyahururu Medical Training College (NMTC), located along Nyahururu–Nyeri Road at the boundary of Laikipia and Nyandarua Counties, began its operations in February 2016 as a center for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for medical and allied health professionals.

NMTC was founded with the mission to train competent and committed health leaders, practitioners, and researchers. Its vision is to become a leading regional medical training college renowned for excellence in multidisciplinary training, research, and consultancy services.
With its strategic location, the college is easily accessible and continues to grow as a comprehensive medical training institution, having received accreditation from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya (COC). The college also collaborates with local healthcare institutions for clinical placements, providing practical training opportunities to its students.
Nyahururu Medical Training College offers a wide range of academic programs designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed in the healthcare sector. The college offers both diploma and certificate programs in fields such as Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN), Clinical Medicine and Surgery, Health Records and Information Technology, Theatre Technology, Counseling Psychology, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Community Health and Development.
In addition, NMTC offers specialized short courses and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs, including Emergency First Aid, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Leadership and Management in Healthcare. These academic programs are supported by a dedicated faculty and hands-on clinical experiences in partnered hospitals and health centers.
Beyond academics, NMTC provides a holistic student experience by offering recreational and social opportunities. Students can engage in various sports, including volleyball, football, handball, netball, and athletics, using the well-maintained playground. Indoor games and entertainment are available in the spacious dining hall. Additionally, the college organizes field trips to local tourist sites, fostering social and cultural experiences outside the classroom environment.
NMTC is equipped with modern facilities to support both learning and student life. The library is stocked with up-to-date medical books and journals, both print and digital, accessible via the KOHA library system. The skills laboratory allows students to gain hands-on experience with high-fidelity mannequins in a simulated patient care setting.
The computer laboratory supports IT skills development, while the medical clinic provides healthcare services to students, staff, and the local community. The hostels offer accommodation for 96 students, with well-furnished rooms that include beds, wardrobes, reading desks, and access to hot water. Additionally, the dining hall has a capacity of 120 students and is equipped to cater to up to 300 individuals. Transport services and counseling facilities are also available, ensuring a comfortable and supportive environment for students.
