Daraja Academy was founded by Jenni and Jason Doherty in 2006 to empower Kenyan girls through secondary education. Partnering with educator Victoria Gichuhi, they established a boarding school offering academic excellence, leadership training, and holistic support for exceptional girls lacking access to education. Daraja, meaning “bridge,” helps students overcome poverty and realize their full potential.
Daraja Academy’s Transition Program is a 4-month life-skills and entrepreneurship training designed to bridge the gap between high school and college. It equips graduates with professional skills and internship experience, preparing them for higher education, careers, and community service. The program helps them navigate Kenya’s challenging job market and become competitive, employable, and impactful leaders.
