St. Elizabeth School of Nursing Mukumu is a tertiary training institution located along the Kisumu–Kakamega Road, just eight kilometers from Kakamega town. Nestled in Shidodo sub-location within Kakamega County, the school is owned by the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega and operates under the leadership of Rt. Rev. Bishop Joseph Obanyi.

Founded by Sr. Maria Bernard and the Medical Missionary Sisters from the Netherlands, St. Elizabeth Medical College Mukumu originally started as a pre-training school for patient attendants before progressing to an Enrolled Midwifery Training School.

Over time, the institution expanded to train Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nurses (KECHN) and later upgraded to offer Kenya Registered Community Health Nurses (KRCHN) programs. The college now offers a range of programs including perioperative theater technology, social work, community development, counseling psychology, and more.

St. Elizabeth Medical College Mukumu is governed by a Board of Management, with day-to-day operations overseen by the Hospital Management Team and the Tutorial team. The institution is accredited by key regulatory bodies such as the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and TVET-CDACC.

St. Elizabeth School of Nursing Mukumu follows curricula regulated by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and TVET-CDACC, ensuring high-quality education. The school offers various diploma and certificate courses, including Perioperative Theater Technology (Diploma: C-, Certificate: D+), Nursing (Diploma: C with C in English/Kiswahili and Biology, and C- in Physics, Math, or Chemistry), and Social Sciences (Diploma: C-, Certificate: D+).

Additional programs include Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, HTS, and Medical Laboratory Sciences. The school consistently excels academically, with practical training supported by a well-equipped hospital environment, including wards and a maternity unit.
