Despite its rural charm, the German School Nairobi is cosmopolitan and modern, reflecting the diverse backgrounds and experiences of its student body. With students from 32 nations, including those who have lived in various parts of the world and those who have grown up in Kenya, the school celebrates diversity and prepares its students for success in an increasingly globalized world.
The school offers a range of academic pathways, including the secondary modern school leaving certificate, vocational school leaving certificate, and the German International Abitur. Teaching is conducted in mixed groups, catering to the individual needs and abilities of students, and follows curricula approved by the Conference of Ministers for Education and Culture in Germany.
English is emphasized as the language of the host country, especially in subjects like Geography and History, which are taught in English or bilingually. French is introduced as a second language in Class 6, enriching students’ linguistic skills and cultural awareness.
In both academic and extracurricular activities, students are encouraged to develop technical, social, and methodological skills through independent learning processes. The school also serves as a cultural center for the German community and promotes cultural exchange between German and Kenyan cultures, fostering international understanding and cooperation.
