Child of Hope Nursery/Primary School Academics

Child of Hope Nursery/Primary School is a Christian-based charity school located in the Namatala slum, Eastern Uganda, dedicated to transforming the lives of children from the poorest and most vulnerable families. Founded by Child of Hope Outreach Uganda, the school provides free quality education to approximately 500 nursery (ages 3–6) and primary (ages 7–12) children, alongside essential healthcare, welfare, and vocational support for families.

The school emphasizes innovative and practical learning approaches to equip children with essential skills for the future. Core teaching incorporates Phonics and other effective learning methods, ensuring children develop strong literacy and numeracy foundations. Beyond classroom instruction, vocational training is provided to prepare students for employment, supporting both personal independence and family livelihoods. The curriculum focuses on creating holistically educated, employable, and empowered young people.

Child of Hope offers programs that extend learning beyond the classroom. These include vocational skill development, work experience, and practical life skills, helping students gain real-world capabilities. Extra-curricular activities also incorporate health, social, and life skills, fostering well-rounded development. Health Care: Free medical attention with a nurse on duty and referral to local Christian clinics for more serious cases. Programs include malaria prevention and general health monitoring.

Nutrition and Welfare: Daily meals, clothing, and shoes are provided to children who would otherwise lack access. The welfare team supports families in slum areas, offering a social safety net in the absence of public services.

Family Support & Income Generation: Mothers are supported with business start-ups and income-generating activities to improve household stability and provide sustainable support for children’s education.

Child of Hope operates under a strong governance structure, with oversight from its management committees and board of directors in Uganda, and support from a UK-registered charity team, including trustees, paid staff, and volunteers. Beyond academics, the organization helps families rise out of poverty by supporting mothers with business start-ups and other income-generating activities.
