French School of Kampala Academics

The French School of Kampala provides a complete academic pathway from preschool to high school. In preschool, children as young as two years old begin their educational journey in a nurturing environment where play, creativity, and social interaction are central to learning. This stage focuses on building early language, literacy, and numeracy skills while introducing English from the Middle Section. For students who are not native French speakers, tailored support in French as a Foreign Language (FLE) ensures smooth integration.

In primary school, children aged six to eleven develop core competencies in French, mathematics, science, and civic education while also benefiting from lessons in English, sports, digital learning, and the arts. Through the CLIL program, students experience an integrated approach where subjects such as art, sport, and science are taught in English, helping them develop bilingual fluency.

The middle school years, from ages eleven to fifteen, are designed to consolidate and deepen learning across disciplines. Students study French, mathematics, science, history, geography, and languages, with Spanish introduced in the 6th grade. Under the AEFE’s PARLE program, several subjects including music, art, and physical education are taught in English, further strengthening their bilingual skills. At the end of middle school, students prepare for and sit the Diplôme National du Brevet (DNB), the French national diploma.

Finally, in high school, students from the age of fifteen prepare for the French Baccalaureate, which is recognized worldwide and provides access to leading universities. Subjects include mathematics, sciences, economics, digital technology, history, geography, and literature. While the Terminal cycle is supported by CNED, the official French distance learning body, EFK teachers guide and mentor students closely, ensuring they are well prepared for exams and higher education.
