Want to Claim Your School?Namugongo Secondary and Vocational School (NSVS), a proud initiative of the Children’s Welfare Mission (CWM), was established in 2002 with a mission to provide a comprehensive curriculum that fosters education, health, emotional, and spiritual growth. Registered and licensed by the Ministry of Education and Sports under registration number PSS/N/163, NSVS operates as a partly day and boarding school. Our vision is to be a leading Christian center for quality education, producing responsible, resourceful, and sincere individuals with enduring learning abilities, wisdom, and skills. Our mission is to develop self-reliant individuals who serve God and contribute effectively to national development, ensuring students are equipped to make a meaningful impact in society.
NSVS offers a unique dual curriculum that sets it apart from other institutions in Uganda, addressing the challenges of employment by combining academic and vocational training. Every student admitted in Senior 1 follows the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) curriculum alongside a compulsory vocational subject and computer studies. This dual approach continues until Senior 3, when students sit for national examinations set by the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT), earning a certificate that allows them to pursue further vocational training if desired. Students then progress to Senior 4, where they sit for UNEB examinations to obtain an additional certificate.
This distinctive structure ensures that NSVS graduates leave with two certificates after four years, equipping them with both academic knowledge and practical skills to stand on their own. The academic programs are complemented by a team of qualified teachers and vocational instructors who teach subjects such as Building and Construction, Carpentry, Tailoring, Electrical Installation, and Catering, all recognized by the Ministry of Education and Sports and affiliated with external certification bodies.
At NSVS, we believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals through a vibrant array of co-curricular activities. Our state-of-the-art facilities, constructed with support from the Dutch Embassy, include dressing rooms, sports equipment, and dedicated fields for volleyball, netball, and football. Our sports teams have excelled, winning trophies at post-primary and beyond-zone levels, with aspirations to compete in the Buganda Cup.
Students also participate in educational tours, excursions, field studies, seminars, and inter-school visits to enhance their learning experience. Our sports offerings include badminton, chess, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, football, netball, athletics, and rugby. Additionally, NSVS fosters creativity through Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD) “Battles,” where students showcase talents in original music compositions, dance, drama, videography, and art. The winning house in original music composition earns the opportunity to record their song in a professional studio, encouraging artistic expression and innovation.
NSVS boasts modern facilities designed to support both academic and co-curricular growth. Our well-equipped library offers a wide range of academic books, including imported science texts, and up-to-date newspapers, enabling students to engage in personal research and stay informed about global and national events. The internet-connected computer lab provides access to sufficient computers, equipping students with essential ICT skills for the globalized world.
Our science laboratories for Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Agriculture are fully equipped, allowing students to engage in hands-on experiments to excel in science subjects. Additionally, our social and educative clubs, such as Youth Alive, the Battles, and Faith Awards, foster social interaction and personal growth through inter-house competitions in MDD, sports, and other activities, creating a dynamic and supportive campus community.
