Curriculum:

Makerere High School, Migadde is a typical traditional school found in a semi rural environment 25km away from the hustle of the city (Kampala) along the Kampala – Gulu Highway.

It started as Pillai’s High School in 1939, its name was changed to Makerere High School in 1976 and extended into a boarding section in Migadde as Migadde College in 1998.But in 2007, Makerere High School moved from the city centre and merged with Migadde College on a very conducive 300 acre campus prompting the change of name to Makerere High School, Migadde.

The school offers boarding facilities for boys and girls within the school, three dormitory blocks for boys and three blocks for the girls’ accommodation. There are separate compasses for O ‘level and A ‘level classes, two laboratories and a computer room plus two dining halls.

Academics

As regards to the curriculum, the school offers sciences and arts subjects including agriculture and computer study, plus a wide range of co-curricular activities like sports and games which include Football, Basketball, Rugby, Volleyball, Table tennis, netball, badminton, in which the school competes at both regional and national levels. Students are also engaged in club activities through vibrant clubs like the Scripture Union,Drama, Debating, Writers, Wildlife and Computer clubs.

 

Facilities

The infrastructure of the school is gradually improving as 20 of the 300 acres is under serious development with class rooms, dormitories, sports facilities and staff quarters. Almost all teachers are resident at the school in the staff quarters strategically constructed at the periphery of the school.

The Administration encourages students to grow spiritually and build a good character foundation. In addition to the compulsory general Sunday service in which they invite approved preachers, they also have other optional fellowship and bible study meetings, plus youth cells which enhance spiritual growth in line with the school vision and mission.

[related_posts]Incorporated in the curriculum is BCP (Behavioural Change Program) in which students learn other values like integrity, honesty, respect, financial literacy to mention but a few. This kind of program has one session every week.

The school is also a prime place for leadership development as we empower student leaders and nurture them into exemplary leaders with both internal and external leadership seminars.
