Curriculum:

Lira Town College is one of the pioneer government schools in Northern Uganda. Established in 1964, it is a mixed day and boarding school located in heart of Lira Town College, just opposite Stanbic Bank. The school has performed quiet well at both regional and national level when it comes to academics and sports.

Staff: Currently, Lira Town College has 70 full time teaching staff.

Subjects

O’Level: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English, Mathematics, Agriculture, French, CRE, History, Entrepreneurship and Fine Art. Others are Computer Studies, Health Science, Leb Lango.

A’level: History, Economics, Divinity, Fine Art, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Literature. Others are: Subsidiary ICT, Subsidiary Maths, Entrepreneurship, and Agriculture.

 Students

Over the last two years, student enrollment has skyrocketed to new limits. There has been dramatic increase in number of students from 300 to about 1600 now. This makes Lira Town College one the most populated schools in Northern Uganda. There are 4 streams each for classes S.1 to S.3. The S.4 class has streams.

About 70% of the student population are full time boarders, while the rest are day scholars.

ICT is very key at Lira Town College with two very creative & motivated teachers teaching students the ICT skills needed for the 21st century. Mr. Angoda Emmanuel, together with Ms. Akello Irene Joy, have been very instrumental in building the department making vital in day to day affairs.

The departments main strengths are engaging the staff, students and using innovative technologies and media to teach & communicate to our beneficiaries in different ways

Clubs

During preparations for STI grand challenge in October 2013, we discussed plans of starting clubs especially for Computer students. This clubs would be easy to mobilize to participate in department activities and participate in such competitions. It was agreed that Science & Technology Innovation (STI) club and Cyber School club be established in 2014.
