Edgars Youth Programme (EYP) is a Ugandan nonprofit organization dedicated to using soccer and related activities to transform the lives of children in vulnerable situations. Founded in 2004 with just three players and a few soccer balls, EYP has grown into a recognized youth soccer service organization that nurtures talent, builds character, and provides structured opportunities for young athletes.
The organization operates from its office on Plot 654 Albert Cook Road, Mengo, with plans to establish a full training center to accommodate and train more talented youths.
While EYP focuses primarily on sports, it integrates personal development into its programs, emphasizing discipline, teamwork, responsibility, and social skills. By engaging young people in structured soccer activities, the organization fosters a learning environment that encourages commitment, goal setting, and resilience, helping participants thrive both on and off the field.
EYP offers a range of soccer-focused programs designed to maximize skill development and personal growth. Weekend sessions run every Saturday throughout the year, school soccer clubs provide training for enrolled scholars, and holiday soccer programs take place during school breaks. Additionally, EYP organizes soccer trips, both local and international, to broaden participants’ exposure and experience. The academy also provides pick-and-drop transport services to ensure accessibility for all members.
Currently, EYP operates from its central office and training grounds in Mengo, with well-organized fields for soccer practice. Plans for a dedicated training center are underway, which will provide accommodation and enhanced training facilities for talented youths. These facilities aim to offer a safe and structured environment where young athletes can hone their skills while developing life competencies essential for long-term success.
Edgars Youth Programme is led by Mr. Suubi Edgar Watson, former captain of the Uganda National Soccer Team and current FUFA CEO. The organization is managed by a team of active soccer players, former athletes, and passionate sports enthusiasts, and welcomes both male and female participants.
EYP operates under Certificate No. 5343 and is committed to creating an environment where children and youths can grow, develop their talents, and achieve personal excellence. The organization’s philosophy is that sports can motivate young people to enjoy childhood, uncover hidden potential, and positively contribute to society.
