Tawhiid Islamic Nursery and Primary School Academics

Tawhiid Islamic Nursery and Primary School offers a balanced curriculum that combines secular education with Islamic studies. Secular subjects are taught from P.1 to P.7, following the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) syllabus and examined nationally by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) at Primary Seven. A thematic curriculum is applied for P.1–P.3, while P.4–P.7 follow a subject-based curriculum.

Islamic Theology is taught across all levels, including The Holy Quran, Arabic Language (Lugha), Fiqh, and Tarbiat, with national-level examinations ensuring academic excellence in religious studies. Non-examinable subjects such as Physical Education (P.E.) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) complement the secular curriculum, providing learners with essential life skills and digital literacy.

The school also implements the Leader in Me program, based on Stephen R. Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, cultivating leadership, initiative, and personal responsibility in learners. The program encourages children to be proactive, plan effectively, prioritize tasks, think win-win, practice empathetic communication, collaborate successfully, and maintain personal well-being.

Tawhiid Islamic Nursery and Primary School History

Tawhiid Islamic Nursery and Primary School was established by the Tawhiid Islamic Association. In 1990, the Association began a Madrasa program for Somali refugees in Kisenyi, with the aim of providing education and community support. By 1994, the program had expanded and was officially registered with the Ministry of Sports and Education, becoming a fully-fledged school.

Since its founding, Tawhiid has grown steadily, evolving from a small community-focused initiative into one of Kampala’s leading Islamic educational institutions, recognized for combining secular academics, Islamic studies, and co-curricular excellence.

Tawhiid Islamic Nursery and Primary School Clubs

Tawhiid Islamic Nursery and Primary School offers a variety of clubs that enable students to explore their interests, develop specialized skills, and engage in meaningful activities beyond the classroom.
