The School Curriculum

The school delivers the Cambridge International Curriculum at both Pre-School and Primary levels. The Cambridge curriculum includes top quality teaching and assessment techniques adopted in top schools around the world. It is a flexible curriculum and is used in conjunction with other subjects, contemporary trends and methodologies which allow the teachers to employ the best practices to achieve excellence. Our curriculum facilitators are skilled professionals that monitor the syllabus to keep it relevant, comprehensive and current. The curriculum develops learners who are confident, responsible, innovative and intellectually and socially engaged.

 

Academics

The core subjects taught at Orel-Vine include Mathematics (Numeracy), English (Literacy), Science and Humanities (History and Geography).

The blending of the Cambridge curriculum and our existing model enhances a holistic approach and allows the incorporation of other subjects which include; French, Information Communications Technology (ICT), Art, Music, Christian Religious Education, Physical Education, Reading and Phonetics, Handwriting and Library.

In addition, the school clubs introduce other subjects such as Financial Literacy, Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Swimming, Public Speaking and Piano/Guitar/Jazz Drums. The Pastoral Care program allows the school to not only teach Christian Religious Education but introduce Christian Ethics Education to the students.

Founded on Christian values, Orel-Vine International Academy offers a dual curriculum system with both the Cambridge International Education and Uganda National Curriculum. The school provides education at all levels, from preschool to secondary school, with campuses dedicated to each stage of a child’s academic journey. Located in Kampala, Uganda, Orel-Vine emphasizes academic excellence and the development of well-rounded, confident individuals who are prepared to lead in a dynamic world.

The school maintains a student-centered approach where every child is recognized for their unique abilities, helping them build self-esteem and confidence. With a focus on fostering personal growth and leadership, Orel-Vine integrates student-led projects that promote community engagement and problem-solving skills.

Orel-Vine offers a comprehensive education across three campuses:

  • Preschool (1-5 years): Located in Najjera, Kampala, the preschool curriculum focuses on a developmental approach, building foundational skills in numeracy, literacy, science, and social skills. Students also engage in activities like art, music, physical education, and Christian Religious Education. Play-based learning is emphasized, with children encouraged to explore the outdoor environment for holistic development.

  • Primary School (5-11 years): Situated along Gayaza Road, the primary school offers a tailored curriculum that aligns with both the Uganda National Curriculum and Cambridge International Education, ensuring a strong foundation in core subjects such as literacy, numeracy, and the sciences, as well as in extracurricular activities.

  • Secondary School (12+ years): Orel-Vine’s secondary division offers the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), a globally recognized qualification. Students typically study 8–10 subjects, including 5 core subjects and 3–5 electives. This prepares students for higher education and future career success.

At Orel-Vine, students have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of extracurricular activities, from sports and music to school clubs and leadership projects. These activities complement the academic curriculum, helping students develop a variety of skills, interests, and talents.
