Uganda Nursing School Bwindi Academics

Uganda Nursing School Bwindi offers a range of programs affiliated with Uganda Christian University, ensuring graduates receive highly recognized diplomas and certificates. The programs integrate state-of-the-art technology, critical thinking, evidence-based practice, and research to produce well-rounded health professionals.

Programs Offered:

• Diploma in Nursing (Direct Entry) – 3 years, with intakes in January and July. Requires an A-Level certificate with a principal pass in Biology and a subsidiary pass in Chemistry, Physics, or Agriculture.

• Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery (Extension) – 18 months, for enrolled nurses/midwives with at least two years of experience.

• Certificate in Nursing or Midwifery – 2.5 years, with entry at UCE level and a minimum of credits in sciences and passes in Mathematics and English.

• Certificate in Family Planning – Available to students interested in expanding their knowledge and skills.

All diploma students also benefit from obstetric sonography training, further strengthening their competence in maternal and child health.

UNSB is uniquely located within the premises of Bwindi Community Hospital, allowing students direct exposure to clinical practice during their training. This proximity ensures that learners gain hands-on experience in patient care while still in school. The institution continues to expand its learning resources with support from its partners, ensuring that students have access to the tools and facilities needed to excel in healthcare training.

Today, Uganda Nursing School Bwindi is recognized as a leading institution in training nurses and midwives who are committed to excellence in healthcare. The school currently enrolls over 200 students, a significant growth from the initial 13 students. Its mission is to improve community health through quality nursing education, research, and practice.

The school’s vision is to be an outstanding institution in healthcare training that responds to health challenges within underserved communities.
