Virika School of Nursing offers a variety of programs designed to equip students with practical skills and theoretical knowledge. The Diploma in Midwifery (Extension) is a 1½-year program targeting Enrolled Midwives and Enrolled Comprehensive Nurses. The Certificate in General Nursing is a 2½-year program, requiring applicants to have passed ‘O’Level examinations in Mathematics, English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Similarly, the Certificate in Midwifery runs for 2½ years with the same entry requirements.

All programs include practical training in health centers and the affiliated hospital, ensuring students gain hands-on experience. Upon completion, students sit for the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examination Board (UNMEB) state examinations and, if successful, register with the Uganda Nurses and Midwifery Council to practice professionally.

A functional Board Committee oversees student discipline and collaborates with the hospital management to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. The school offers accommodation for both male and female students, with locally prepared meals including Posho, Matooke, and beans. All programs incorporate practical training through placements in health centers and the hospital, ensuring students gain real-world experience. Upon successful completion of their courses, students sit for the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examination Board (UNMEB) state examinations. Graduates who pass are registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwifery Council, enabling them to begin professional practice immediately.
