Bundibugyo Primary Teachers College offers Certificate-level teacher education programs aimed at equipping students with pedagogical skills, classroom management techniques, and a strong foundation in professional ethics.The completion of new facilities has greatly enhanced learning and accommodation. A newly built girls’ dormitory now houses 32 students, and a semi-detached staff house provides accommodation for tutors. However, the college still faces challenges, including a shortage of teaching staff—currently 13 instead of the required 24—and limited land, occupying only 7 acres instead of the recommended 20 acres for a teachers’ college.

Bundibugyo Primary Teachers College History

Established in 1982 as a community initiative and initially hosted by the Catholic Church, the college began without permanent land or structures. For 19 years, students studied in temporary buildings provided by Auction Aid, with bricks made by local parents contributing to semi-structured classrooms. With intervention from local leaders and support from the Bundibugyo Media Practitioners Forum, the district purchased land in 2005, paving the way for permanent development. The college is committed to producing qualified and ethical teachers who can contribute meaningfully to Uganda’s education system.
