Bugema University provides undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programs across various schools: the School of Graduate Studies, School of Business, School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, School of Education, School of Social Sciences, School of Theology and Religious Studies, School of Health and Allied Sciences, and School of Science and Technology. Bachelor’s degree programs typically take three to four years, depending on the student’s entry qualifications, while diploma courses require two years and certificate courses one year. The university also allows transfer of credits from recognized institutions, subject to evaluation, and provides opportunities for students to gain credit for previous work under certain conditions. Graduate programs include MBA, MA in Education, MA in Development, MSc in Counseling Psychology, and Master of Public Health (MPH), ensuring professional and academic advancement.

Bugema University History
Bugema University traces its roots to 1927 when the Adventist Church established its first educational institution in Uganda. It moved to its current 640-acre campus in Bugema in 1948 and evolved into a seminary granting bachelor’s degrees in Theology by 1974. Business programs were introduced in 1985 and education in 1990, followed by government licensing as a university in 1994. Recognized and accredited by the Adventist Accrediting Association and the National Council for Higher Education in Uganda, Bugema University upholds its mission to provide accessible, quality education that integrates academic excellence, moral integrity, and professional competence. Its motto emphasizes the development of knowledgeable, responsible, and ethical graduates prepared to serve communities locally and globally.
