IUIU offers a wide range of programs at undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. The university operates six core faculties: Islamic Studies and Arabic Language, Arts and Social Sciences, Management Studies, Education, Science, and Law. Programs include certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degrees, with a Centre for Postgraduate Studies coordinating advanced research and studies. Courses are delivered through Day, Evening, and Weekend schedules to accommodate working students. All programs are designed to provide theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and ethical grounding to prepare students for professional success.
Islamic University in Uganda | IUIU Co-curricular
IUIU encourages holistic student development through a variety of co-curricular activities. Students can engage in sports, arts, drama, politics, and cultural events, all aligned with the university’s Islamic ethos. Leadership development and community service programs are integrated into campus life to cultivate ethical and socially responsible graduates. The Kabojja Campus provides an exclusive environment for female students, offering additional mentorship and leadership opportunities tailored to women’s development.
Islamic University in Uganda | IUIU Facilities
The university provides residential facilities at the main Mbale Campus and Kabojja Campus, while the Kibuli and Arua campuses are non-residential. Students have access to well-equipped libraries, lecture halls, laboratories, and ICT services to support both academic and research needs. Sports and recreational facilities are available across campuses, supporting football, basketball, athletics, and other activities. Dedicated support services, including counseling, career guidance, and student welfare programs, ensure a safe and supportive environment for learning and personal development.
Islamic University in Uganda | IUIU History
IUIU operates under the Islamic University in Uganda Act (Cap 131, Laws of Uganda) and was inaugurated by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in partnership with the Government of Uganda. The university’s vision is to be a centre of academic excellence providing knowledge and skills to serve humanity, rooted in Islamic values, while its mission focuses on accessible, high-quality education that fosters professional competence, ethical leadership, and community service. IUIU employs over 600 full-time and around 300 part-time staff from multiple countries, ensuring a diverse and qualified academic environment.
