Queen of Apostles Philosophy Centre (PCJ), located on the outskirts of Jinja, Uganda, is an international and inter-congregational academic institution dedicated to forming mature and joyful missionary disciples for the Church and society.
The center equips students from across Africa with the knowledge, skills, and spiritual grounding necessary for pastoral, missionary, and leadership roles. With a focus on academic excellence and formative encounters, PCJ addresses contemporary challenges while nurturing the cultural and Christian heritage of its students.
PCJ offers a robust and internationally recognized curriculum, affiliated with both the Pontificia Universitas Urbaniana in Rome and Uganda Martyrs’ University in Nkozi. The Philosophy Centre provides programs leading to a Bachelor of Philosophy degree or a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Social Sciences, or Religious Studies.
Academic training is offered through four core departments: Language, Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Social Sciences. Students also engage in complementary courses including Sacred Scripture, Christian Doctrine, Spirituality, Psychology, Sociology, and Economics, ensuring a well-rounded intellectual and spiritual formation suitable for ministry and leadership.
Beyond academics, PCJ emphasizes the development of personal, social, and spiritual skills essential for effective missionary work. Students are encouraged to engage in formative encounters, community life, and inter-congregational activities, fostering unity in diversity, teamwork, and leadership.
These co-curricular experiences help students apply philosophical and religious principles to real-world contexts, shaping them into transformative leaders capable of addressing societal and pastoral challenges throughout Africa.
PCJ is situated on a spacious 25-acre campus that provides a peaceful and conducive environment for study, reflection, and spiritual growth. The center has purpose-built classrooms, a new hall, and plans for a small chapel for private prayer and Mass with small groups.
The campus infrastructure supports both academic and co-curricular activities, accommodating students from multiple African countries while fostering an atmosphere of community, discipline, and collaborative learning.
Today, PCJ is a thriving international consortium supported by fourteen congregations, including the Missionaries of Africa, Comboni Missionaries, Mill Hill Missionaries, Congregation of Holy Cross, and Claretian Missionaries. The center continues to expand its facilities and programs to meet growing student enrollment and the evolving needs of African society.
Its vision is to be a premier international academic centre forming missionary disciples who combine intellectual rigor with faith, integrity, and a commitment to service. PCJ actively celebrates diversity and integrates contemporary African realities into its educational approach, preparing students to serve both the Church and society with wisdom and compassion.
