The Apostles of Jesus Seminary Kabale is part of the first religious missionary order of priests and brothers founded in Africa. Established on August 22, 1968, by Bishop Sixtus Mazzoldi, MCCJ, and Rev. John Marengoni, MCCJ, in Moroto, Uganda, the order quickly expanded its missionary presence to Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan, and beyond—reaching Europe, Australia, and the United States.
The seminary in Kabale continues this legacy, preparing young men to serve God and humanity through priesthood, religious life, and missionary work.
The Apostles of Jesus Seminary Kabale offers a strong academic and spiritual formation program, combining religious studies with a comprehensive secondary school curriculum. Students are equipped with a solid foundation in humanities, sciences, and languages, while also being deeply rooted in theology, philosophy, and Catholic doctrine.
This academic rigor ensures that seminarians excel in national examinations and are intellectually prepared for higher ecclesiastical studies and pastoral work. The seminary’s holistic education approach balances academic growth with spiritual maturity, preparing students to serve both the Church and society.
Co-curricular activities play an essential role in nurturing well-rounded seminarians. Apostles of Jesus Seminary Kabale encourages students to engage in sports such as football, volleyball, and athletics, which promote teamwork and discipline.
Music, dance, and drama are integral to seminary life, fostering creativity and cultural appreciation. Spiritual retreats, leadership training, and social service activities further mold the students into responsible and compassionate leaders, capable of carrying forward the missionary vision of the Apostles of Jesus.
Apostles of Jesus Seminary Kabale is equipped with the resources needed for both academic and spiritual growth. Its serene setting in Kabale offers an ideal environment for prayer, study, and reflection. The seminary includes classrooms, a chapel, dormitories, and recreational spaces that support both learning and community living.
Farming activities within the seminary also serve as a valuable resource, teaching self-reliance while providing food for the community. Together, these facilities create a nurturing atmosphere for seminarians to grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially.
Today, the Apostles of Jesus Seminary Kabale stands as a vibrant center of formation and missionary zeal. The seminary trains young men to embrace lives of sacrifice, service, and faith, in line with the founding vision of Bishop Mazzoldi and Rev. Marengoni. Its impact extends far beyond Uganda, with Apostles of Jesus priests and brothers serving worldwide in parishes, schools, hospitals, and social services.
In the United States alone, they are present in more than 20 states, filling the gap where there is a shortage of priests and extending Christ’s healing mission in hospitals and communities. The seminary in Kabale continues to be a vital foundation for raising future missionaries who will touch lives across the globe.
