X-Street Uganda Basketball Academy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable children and youth through sports and life skills development. Championing basketball as its flagship sport, the academy uses athletics as a powerful tool to restore hope, inspire change, and promote unity in communities.
By combining sports, education, and creativity, X-Street Uganda Basketball Academy empowers young people to unlock their potential and create productive, meaningful lives.
While the academy’s core focus is sports, its programs are carefully designed to go beyond physical training. Through its Life Skills Program, students gain essential knowledge in areas such as reproductive health, self-esteem, creative thinking, career guidance, entrepreneurship, farming, livelihood, and child rights.
These lessons are interactive, engaging, and blended with fun, ensuring that young people not only develop athletic ability but also practical skills that prepare them for life’s challenges.
X-Street Uganda Basketball Academy offers diverse programs that nurture both talent and character. Its Basketball for Life Project equips youth with athletic skills while advocating against drug abuse and promoting child rights.
The Girls’ Football Program empowers young women by creating equal opportunities in sports and education, with pathways for scholarships. Additionally, the academy runs creative art programs, including painting, dance, and beadwork, giving children more avenues to express themselves and build confidence.
The academy’s programs are community-based and operate within accessible environments that encourage participation and inclusion. Training grounds are used for basketball and football sessions, while creative spaces host life skills and art projects. Plans for expansion include establishing more structured facilities to further support athletic training, education, and holistic youth development.
Today, X-Street Uganda Basketball Academy stands as a registered community-based organization operating in the Walukuba-Masese areas and beyond. Founded in 2012 by Paul Okongo and Agaba Kenneth, the academy has grown into a beacon of hope for at-risk youth, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds.
Its holistic approach combines basketball, football, life skills, and art to create well-rounded, empowered individuals ready to contribute positively to their communities. With dedicated mentors, ongoing projects, and a strong network of supporters, the academy continues to inspire young people to live with purpose and resilience.
