Curriculum:

Mount Kenya University is dedicated to producing well-trained graduates equipped with the necessary technological and scientific knowledge to thrive in their careers. By offering a wide range of programs, MKU ensures that its students receive quality education and the skills needed to meet the evolving demands of the job market.

Mount Kenya University’s journey began as a computer outreach program in 1996, evolving into a commercial college by 2000, and later being recognized by the Ministry of Education. With the introduction of paramedical, IT, and business programs, MKU became the first private institution in Kenya to train Pharmaceutical Technologists in 2005. In 2011, the university was granted a full charter, expanding its programs and footprint across the region.

MKU is ISO 9001:2015 certified and a member of the Inter-University Council for East Africa, African Association of Universities, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. The university has established over 50 partnerships with global institutions, ensuring its students are exposed to international learning and research opportunities.

Additionally, MKU has three institutes: Equip Africa Institute, Institute of Security, Justice and Ethics, and Institute of Films, Performing and Creative Arts, along with Equip Africa College of Health Sciences. The university’s programs are accredited by various professional bodies, including the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, the Nursing Council of Kenya, and the Commission for Legal Education, ensuring high standards of education.

Mount Kenya University Facilities

The main campus, located along General Kago Road in Thika, serves as the epicenter of all MKU activities. It houses essential administrative offices, including those of the Chairman, Board of Directors, Vice Chancellor, and Deputy Vice Chancellors. The campus is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including libraries, laboratories, and lecture halls, creating a stimulating learning environment.

Thika, known as the “Birmingham of Kenya,” is not only an industrial hub but also hosts several tourist attractions, such as the 14 Falls and Chania Falls. This vibrant town enhances the overall student experience, providing both academic and recreational opportunities.
