UBS offers four program levels tailored to meet the academic and ministry experience of each student: Certificate in Theology, Diploma in Theology, Bachelor in Theology, and Master of Theology in partnership with Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in the United States. Classes are conducted in intensive four-week terms three times per year, allowing students to balance academic rigor with ministry commitments.
The seminary emphasizes applied learning through preaching, pastoral care, evangelism, and theological research, ensuring students gain both theoretical understanding and practical ministry skills. Admission requires academic qualifications, reference letters, and prior ministry experience, ensuring a cohort of committed and capable learners.
Uganda Baptist Seminary (UBS) Co-curricular
Life at UBS extends beyond classroom instruction to include vibrant spiritual and community engagement. Morning chapel services occur three times a week, led by students who practice preaching, worship, and ministry leadership. Students participate in evangelism initiatives, such as the Gospel Coaster outreach program, which transports students into communities to minister and engage with local populations.
These co-curricular experiences reinforce the seminary’s commitment to practical ministry training, developing leadership, public speaking, and interpersonal skills essential for effective church service.
Uganda Baptist Seminary (UBS) Facilities
The UBS campus in Jinja, Uganda, accommodates approximately 250 students annually, with semi-residential programs during four-week terms. The campus features dormitories with modern amenities, including warm running water, solar-heated washrooms, mosquito nets, and comfortable living arrangements. Meals are provided daily, prepared by a dedicated kitchen team offering balanced and nutritious options.
Academic resources include a library with over 13,000 volumes and 1,500 periodicals, a fully equipped computer lab with internet access, and ICT support services. The seminary also provides medical care through an on-campus clinic, counseling services, and administrative support for finance and student welfare. Classrooms, occasional outdoor learning spaces, and the library support a dynamic learning environment, while spiritual life is reinforced through chapel services and community engagement initiatives.

Uganda Baptist Seminary operates with a clear mission to equip ministers of the Gospel in East Africa with comprehensive theological knowledge and hands-on ministry experience. Guided by principles of perseverance, integrity, and dedication to God’s Word, UBS has trained generations of church leaders across Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, Burundi, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The seminary maintains a strong emphasis on spiritual formation, academic excellence, and practical ministry, fostering a community where students are encouraged to grow intellectually, spiritually, and personally.
