The Universal Institute of Graphics and Technology (UIGT) is a premier training institution that has been shaping skilled professionals since its establishment in 2001. Fully registered under the National Council of Higher Education, and a member of both the Uganda Association of Private Vocational Institutions (UGAPRIVI) and the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT), UIGT has established itself as a hub for hands-on technical education.
The institute also operates as a UBTEB examination center (No. UBB295). Over the years, UIGT has graduated more than 800 professionals, many of whom have gone on to secure employment with leading companies across Uganda, East Africa, and the wider African region. Its emphasis on practical skills ensures that even with minimal capital, graduates are fully prepared to pursue self-employment and entrepreneurship.
UIGT offers a wide range of certificate and diploma programs that focus on both vocational and technical training. Students can choose from courses such as Information and Communication Technology, Graphics and Digital Design, Business Administration, Programming, Database Management, Architectural Design, and Journalism. Specialized programs include multimedia and graphics training, with certificates in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, CorelDraw, Motion Graphics, Photography, Video Editing, TV and Radio Presentation, and Printing Management.
The institute also offers industry-relevant programs in Web Design, Digital Marketing, Programming, and Database Development. For those seeking higher-level qualifications, diploma programs are available in Graphics Digital Design, Information Technology, Multimedia, Architectural Design, Journalism, and Fashion & Design, among others. Every course is designed to provide practical, hands-on training that prepares students to excel in the job market or pursue entrepreneurial ventures.
In addition to academic training, UIGT places strong emphasis on co-curricular engagement to ensure holistic student development. Students are encouraged to participate in activities that build creativity, teamwork, and innovation—qualities that are essential in today’s competitive job market.
With programs in sound and music production, media presentation, and creative design, learners are able to explore their talents beyond the classroom and build confidence in their professional and personal growth. These activities not only complement academic programs but also nurture critical soft skills such as communication, leadership, and adaptability.
UIGT provides a modern and supportive learning environment equipped with facilities that allow students to receive quality hands-on training in real-world conditions. The institute is particularly recognized for its multimedia and graphics laboratories, ICT hubs, and workshops tailored for vocational and technical training.
These facilities make it possible for students to master practical skills in areas such as video editing, digital design, printing, computer repair, electrical installation, and motor vehicle mechanics. By combining modern infrastructure with a highly skilled teaching staff, UIGT ensures that learners are prepared for both formal employment and entrepreneurial ventures in Uganda’s growing economy.
Today, Universal Institute of Graphics and Technology stands as one of Uganda’s most innovative vocational and technical institutions, known for bridging the gap between education and employment. Guided by its vision to be a leading institution in academic excellence and vocational development in Uganda, Africa, and beyond, UIGT is committed to providing market-driven training that meets both local and international demands. Its mission of delivering innovative hands-on education is underpinned by a strong set of values: integrity, competitiveness, quality, professionalism, and innovation.
The institute also strives to create opportunities for the less privileged by offering partially free education, empowering students from all walks of life to gain valuable skills for self-sustainability. Its motto, “Do it yourself,” reflects the institute’s dedication to producing graduates who are independent, resourceful, and capable of shaping their own futures.
