Michelangelo College of Creative Arts Kasubi was founded in 1989 by the Brothers of St. Charles Lwanga (Bannakaroli Brothers) and named after the celebrated artist Michelangelo, whose legacy continues to inspire generations of creatives. The college was initiated by Bro. Frederick Musaazi, a professional artist, with the vision of training talented youths in various fields of art and design. Over the years, Michelangelo College has trained over 3,122 diploma students and 2,113 certificate students through formal and informal education.
The college offers Diploma and Certificate programs in Art and Design. The curriculum includes subjects such as History and Appreciation of Art, Drawing, Ceramics, Computer Graphics, Painting, Sculpture, Textile Designs, Multi-media Crafts, Development Studies, and Marketing. Diploma applicants require at least two principal passes at A-Level, including Fine Art, and five passes at Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), with one in Fine Art. Certificate applicants need five UCE passes with a credit in Fine Art or one principal pass at A-Level in Fine Art.
Michelangelo College emphasizes the development of teamwork, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills alongside academic training. Students engage in collaborative projects, exhibitions, and creative workshops that encourage practical application of artistic skills. The college fosters a culture of self-reliance, partnerships, and project management, preparing students for careers in both modern and indigenous art forms.
