Its services include the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS), which allows institutions to organize and manage course content efficiently, and anti-plagiarism software that helps maintain academic integrity.
Through eduVPN, researchers and students can securely access institutional networks even over unsecure connections. RENU Identity Federation (RIF) further simplifies access to educational resources locally and globally, while web conferencing and zero-rated mobile access ensure uninterrupted learning and research engagement. By integrating these services, RENU empowers institutions to enhance teaching, learning, and research outcomes in a digitally connected environment.

LoRaWAN connectivity enables advanced experimentation with Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, allowing researchers to explore innovative projects over large distances with minimal resource consumption. RENU also organizes annual capacity-building programs, training network engineers and staff in areas such as network management, cybersecurity, and ICT innovation. RENU Cloud and colocation facilities support offsite storage, disaster recovery, and server management, while domain registration, hosting, and web development services help institutions establish and manage their digital presence effectively.
Advanced cybersecurity measures, SSL certificates, and continuous network monitoring ensure safe and reliable operations, and solar-powered internet routers promote sustainable connectivity. Additionally, services like RENU Backup, Enterprise Resource Planning (RENU 360), and Campus Network as a Service (CNaaS) streamline institutional management and ICT operations, enabling institutions to focus on research, education, and innovation without technical limitations.

Today, it connects over 1,000 campuses and has trained more than 2,500 professionals, providing reliable high-speed internet and innovative ICT solutions to its members. The organization operates with a strong commitment to service quality, innovation, and collaboration, offering 24/7 support and personalized guidance to institutions.
RENU enables its members to overcome the traditionally high costs of information sharing and research collaboration, allowing seamless interaction with peers nationally and internationally. Its mission is centered on building an inclusive, sustainable, and technologically empowered research and education ecosystem in Uganda.
