Curriculum: Uganda National Examinations Board Curriculum (UNEB)

Ruharo Vocational Training School (RVTS), located in Ruharo Ward, Kamukuzi Division, Mbarara Town along the Mbarara-Kasese road, is a church-owned vocational institution dedicated to equipping students with practical skills for self-reliance and community development.

Established in 1981 with startup funding from the Evangelistic Omorep (EO) organization in Holland, RVTS initially served orphaned boys and girls affected by the 1979 war. Today, the school admits P7, S4, S6 leavers, and school leavers seeking vocational skills, offering both day and boarding options.

Ruharo Vocationnal Training School Academics

RVTS offers a wide range of certificate and diploma programs in both technical and business fields, with courses approved by the Uganda Business and Technical Examination Board (UBTEB) and the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT). Business programs include National Diplomas in Accountancy and Secretarial Studies, and National Certificates in Accountancy, Secretarial Studies, and Office Management.

Technical courses encompass National Diplomas in Civil and Building Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fashion and Design, and National Certificates in Building and Construction, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Automotive Mechanics, Plumbing, Catering and Hotel Management, and Fashion and Design.

Ruharo Vocationnal Training School Co-curricular

RVTS also provides hands-on short courses and module-based training, ranging from six to nine months, to build practical skills quickly. These include Carpentry and Joinery, Tailoring and Garment Design, Hairdressing and Salon Management, Knitting, Motor Vehicle Repair and Maintenance, Computer Applications, Mobile Phone Repair, Welding, Radio and Television maintenance, and Catering. These courses are designed to enable students to become job creators rather than job seekers, fostering entrepreneurship and self-employment.

Ruharo Vocationnal Training School Facilities

RVTS provides both day and boarding facilities, supporting a conducive learning environment for practical and theoretical training. The school maintains affordable tuition fees and manageable payment structures, ensuring access for students from all backgrounds.

Registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports (Reg. No. PVS/R7), the school operates UNEB examination centers for Technical (UT035) and Business (UB091) courses. Classrooms, workshops, and labs are equipped to deliver industry-standard practical training across its diverse range of vocational programs.
