Writing daily is good practice, you will enjoy it, it will make the process more easier that will help you. Commit a certain number of words every day as you keep increasing them in number. soon it will be a book.
Start with writing a story, it can be fictional or non-fictional. your can also start with tweets on Facebook or twitter as you increase them in number daily.
2. Mimic great writers
Look for books of great writers, read them, you will notice the different patterns used in all their writings. The more you read, and specifically the more books you read, the more you’re exposed to high-quality writing.
Without realizing this, you are internalizing the elements of the text, and you’ll slowly find yourself beginning to implement them in your own writing.
Not only this, reading gives you ideas. Lots and lots of ideas. And the more ideas you have, the easier it becomes to put them down on paper.
3. Go for an Online Writing Course
There are a lot of different courses online for those who want to start writing some are free, some are to be paid for before you e enroll. They help polish up the few skills that you have and also add more to a few that you had. They expose you to different write ups in different categories.
4. Put yourself out there
At some point you will need people to read a few of what you have written. whether its a book, a tweet, a Facebook post or just a joke! People will critique you, which is painful but its part of a writer’s growth.. It will help you get honest and intelligent feedback that will challenge you to improve on the skills in a particular area.
5. Start a Blog
Think of the areas that you most interested in and start writing in that direction.
Writing isn’t just a tool for communication – it’s a tool for creative generation and unlocking what’s within your mind. It’s a tool for discovery. The most important parts of your writing are the beginning and end. Especially the beginning. If you don’t hook your reader in the beginning, they won’t read the rest of your writing.
