KCA University is a private, non-profit institution of higher learning located in Nairobi, Kenya. Founded in 1989 as the Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), the university was initially established to train accountants in the country. In 1996, KCA received a Letter of Interim Authority (LIA) from the Commission for Higher Education (CHE) to offer degree programs, and in 2007, it was granted a Charter by the Kenyan government, becoming a fully-fledged university.
The history of KCA University dates back to its founding as the Kenya College of Accountancy, which aimed to improve accountancy and financial management training in Kenya. Since then, the institution has significantly grown, with current enrollment exceeding 12,000 students annually across campuses in Kitengela, Nairobi CBD, and Kisumu.
Since its establishment, KCA University has expanded its academic programs to include undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various fields such as accounting, business, information technology, law, and social sciences. The university is committed to enhancing educational quality through partnerships with international universities and organizations.
Accredited by the Commission for University Education (CUE) and a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), KCA University has received several awards for academic excellence and community service, including the Best Private University in Kenya award by the Federation of Kenya Employers in 2018.
KCA University features modern facilities, including the Martin Oduor-Otieno Library, which accommodates 1,500 students and provides extensive resources for research and academic discourse. The main campus includes a contemporary tuition complex equipped with digital technology in classrooms, computer labs, and lecture theatres, creating a versatile learning environment.
