Rongo University was established in the 1970s as Kitere Technical School by the local community for craft apprenticeship training, our institution transformed into Moi Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1983.
This transformation came after the Union of South Nyanza Welfare Association (USNWA) recognized the growing demand for technical and vocational training in the region and approached President Daniel Arap Moi.
The fruitful partnership between MIT and Moi University, which began in 2007, allowed us to offer diploma and undergraduate programs as a satellite campus. This collaboration led to another milestone in 2012 when we were elevated to Rongo University College.
