The University of Embu (UoEm) is a vibrant institution of higher learning in Kenya, established as a Constituent College of the University of Nairobi in 2011. With a rich history that dates back to 1947, UoEm has evolved to meet the educational needs of its students and the community, transitioning from an agricultural training school to a fully-fledged university.

Originally founded as an agricultural training school, the institution underwent several transformations before becoming the University of Embu. It was first renamed Embu Institute of Agriculture in 1968 and later upgraded to Embu Agricultural Staff Training College in 1990.

The college focused on developing and implementing short management and technical courses while providing research and consultancy services to enhance the agricultural sector. The University of Embu was inaugurated as a university on October 7, 2016, marking a significant milestone in its history when it was awarded a charter by H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta.
