The University of Kabianga offers a comprehensive range of academic programmes across diploma, undergraduate, master’s, and doctorate levels. Admission requirements vary by programme to ensure students meet the necessary academic standards. Diploma programmes require a minimum KCSE grade of C plain, undergraduate programmes require a minimum of C+, while master’s programmes require at least a Second-Class Upper Division degree or relevant postgraduate diploma. Doctorate applicants must hold a recognized master’s degree. The Academic Division oversees the coordination of teaching, learning, library services, and student affairs, ensuring high academic quality and smooth programme delivery.
Recognizing the importance of physical and mental fitness, our university promotes a culture of sports and games. Through various indoor and outdoor activities, students and staff have the opportunity to participate in regional, national, and international sporting events, fostering personal development and well-being.
The university operates under the Higher Education Act and is governed through a structured system that includes the University Council, Vice-Chancellor, Senate, Management Board, and various divisions led by Deputy Vice-Chancellors. Additional governance structures include directorates, schools headed by deans, and departments overseen by heads of department. This framework supports efficient management and ensures effective delivery of services across academic and administrative units. Founded in 1925 as Government School Kabianga, the institution has evolved significantly over the decades. It served as Kabianga Teachers’ Training College between 1929 and 1963 before transforming into the Kabianga Farmers Training Centre in 1959, offering agricultural training to farmers across the South Rift region. In May 2007, it became a campus of Moi University, later elevated to Kabianga University College in 2009. On 1st March 2013, the university was officially awarded a Charter by President Mwai Kibaki. Today, it remains committed to nurturing generations of graduates equipped with knowledge, skills, and integrity.
