KISU is a privately owned, co-educational institution that caters to students aged 2 to 19 years. The school provides a multicultural learning environment enriched by global perspectives and diverse cultural backgrounds. The institution is guided by an Advisory Board of Governors, while the daily operations are overseen by the School Director. KISU’s mission is to deliver holistic and rigorous international education that nurtures academic excellence, personal growth, cultural understanding, and responsible global citizenship.
KISU offers a structured and progressive academic curriculum that blends international standards with local relevance. In the Primary and Lower Secondary School, the curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum framework. From Year 10 onwards, students pursue the Cambridge IGCSE programme, and in Years 12 and 13, students follow the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.
The IB Diploma is recognized and respected by universities worldwide for its academic rigor and holistic educational approach. The school also provides English as a Second Language (ESL/ESOL) support where needed and offers learning support for students with mild learning difficulties, ensuring inclusivity and success for diverse learners.
Kampala International School Uganda (KISU), formerly known as Kabira International School, was established in 1993 to provide high-quality international education in Uganda. In September 2008, the school relocated to its current, purpose-built campus in Kampala. Over the years, KISU has expanded and modernized its infrastructure, academic programs, and student capacity. Today, the school enrolls approximately 600 students representing nearly 60 nationalities and continues to grow steadily as a leading international school in the region.
