Curriculum: Uganda National Examinations Board Curriculum (UNEB)

Welcome to Cornerstone Junior School, a premier private mixed pre-primary and primary day and boarding school located in the vibrant community of Mukono, Uganda, just 0.5 km along Kayunga Road on Hamu-Mukasa Road in Kitete village. Established on January 29, 2005, with only eleven pupils. Guided by our motto, “Discover the Hidden Treasure,” our vision is to be regionally recognized for academic excellence, talent development, and outstanding childcare standards, while our mission is to empower learners to overcome challenges, reach milestones, and unlock their hidden potential through a God-fearing, disciplined, and respectful approach.

Cornerstone Primary School Academics

Cornerstone Junior School follows the Uganda Primary School Curriculum for Primary 1 to 7, complemented by a uniquely designed Nursery Curriculum aligned with the NCDC Learning Framework for children aged 2.7 to 6 years. Our primary curriculum fosters confidence, self-esteem, talent exploration, language development, thinking, motor skills, social skills, and a positive attitude toward learning and work. The nursery section, ranked number one in Mukono District for its quality education and care, includes Baby Class (Baby Green for ages 2.7–3, Baby Yellow for age 4, Baby Blue for above 4), Middle Class, and Top Class, with each class supported by two qualified teachers trained in early childhood education.

Our curriculum, enriched by years of collaboration with teachers and external facilitators, ensures social, spiritual, moral, intellectual, emotional, and physical development. Assessments include beginning-of-term, fortnightly, midterm, and end-of-term tests, alongside weekly assignments and homework to reinforce learning. Academic board meetings, held thrice per term, analyze performance, while study trips and educational programs instill knowledge and life skills. Our well-stocked library encourages a reading culture, with students borrowing readers each term to enhance literacy.

Cornerstone Primary School Co-curricular

At Cornerstone, learning is holistic. We offer a wide range of co-curricular activities to nurture the diverse talents and interests of our students, including sports, games, swimming, study tours, excursions, music, dance, and drama. We are committed to empowering our learners to overcome challenges and unlock their hidden potential, striving to inspire each child to Discover The Hidden Treasure within themselves. Additionally, we provide a daycare facility for pupils whose parents need care until the evening, offering comfortable beds for rest and structured interaction opportunities that enhance reading and writing skills. A rich Holiday package is also provided every holiday to continue the learning process.
