The school was founded in 1922 by Mother Mary Kevin, the visionary founder of the Franciscan Sisters for Africa and the Little Sisters of St. Francis. Her mission was to promote the education of the girl-child and uplift the status of women in society through holistic and value-based learning. In 1958, the administration was handed over to the Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi, who have since maintained the school’s high standards of discipline, academic performance, and Christian ethics. Over the decades, St. Agnes has grown into a respected center of excellence, producing God-fearing, confident, and knowledgeable young women.
