Bishop Willis Demonstration School

About

Curriculum:

Bishop Willis Demonstration School is a Church of Uganda school. It was established in 1930 by the Church Missionary Society as a training college for teachers. In 1954 a new teacher training college was set up and Bishop Willis became a demonstration school, meaning that students from the teacher training college do their practical training at the school.

Bishop Willis Demonstration School[related_posts]Bishop Willis Demonstration School is now government aided, and has 32 teachers and 1,410 students from Primary 1 to Primary 7. There are also 19 boarders who attend a Centre for the Blind. There are no fees for day scholars but boarders are charged 150,000 shillings ($85) per term. 2007 government grants for the school totaled 3,341,343 shillings ($1,900).

Bishop Willis Demonstration School faces serious challenges, including the lack of a bore hole (well), dilapidated buildings, inadequate teachers’ housing, and funding for student meals. Most of the children who attend the Centre for the Blind are not able to pay fees. Any sponsorship or assistance would be most welcome. P.O. Box 11
