In the 2025 UACE results, St. Mary’s Kitende recorded an average of 15.4 points from 498 candidates, placing it among Uganda’s top 100 nationally ranked schools out of more than 2,500 assessed. The subject-level breakdown for that year showed 163 A grades, 126 B grades and 56 C grades among 381 recorded subject entries.

St. Mary’s Kitende encourages students to participate in a wide range of co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Options include sports, music, drama, debate, community service, young enterprise projects, science clubs, and religious study groups. Sports play a key role, with the school recognized for excellence locally and regionally. The school’s flagship facility is St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende — a roughly 20,000-capacity venue used for both school and regional sporting events. The campus also has science laboratories, a library, smart classrooms and digital learning platforms, developed through successive campus expansions.

St. Mary’s Kitende Boarding Senior Secondary School History

• 2001 — Founded on 6 February by Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa.
• 2023 — Named USSSA “School of the Year” and won a 15th FEASSSA boys’ football title in 15 years at the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association Games in Rwanda.
• 2025 — School stadium hosted a CAF African Schools Football Championship (CECAFA) qualifier, in which Uganda’s under-15 side beat Ethiopia 3-1 on penalties to reach the continental finals.
• 2026 — Marked its Silver Jubilee (25 years) in July, with founder Dr. Mulindwa reflecting on the school’s growth from “humble beginnings in 2001.”

By its 25th anniversary the school’s trophy count, per its own reporting, stood at 11 USSSA national football titles, 16 FEASSSA East African football championships, 18 FEASSSA netball crowns and more than 20 basketball championships.

SMASK’s alumni pipeline into Ugandan football is well documented: former Uganda Cranes captain Farouk Miya, Slovan Liberec and Uganda Cranes defender Aziz Kayondo, and Vipers SC and Uganda Cranes player Usama Arafat have all publicly credited the school. Usama Arafat has said: “As a former student of St Mary’s Secondary School, Kitende, I will always be grateful to Dr Lawrence Mulindwa.”
