Established originally as Pillai’s High School in 1939, it was renamed Makerere High School in 1976 and later extended into a boarding section known as Migadde College in 1998. In 2007, the school fully merged and relocated to its expansive 300-acre campus at Migadde, adopting its current name — Makerere High School, Migadde. The school provides a peaceful, academic-focused environment ideal for both local and international students.
We offer a broad and balanced curriculum that combines both sciences and arts, alongside practical subjects such as Agriculture and Computer Studies. The curriculum emphasizes not only academic excellence but also moral and character development. In addition, students participate in the Behavioural Change Program (BCP), which focuses on teaching essential life values such as integrity, honesty, respect, and financial literacy. The school also encourages leadership development through internal and external leadership seminars, empowering students to become responsible and exemplary leaders.
Founded in 1939 as Pillai’s High School, the institution has evolved significantly over the decades. The change to Makerere High School in 1976 marked a new phase of academic excellence, while the 1998 establishment of the Migadde College campus introduced a robust boarding section. The 2007 merger of both campuses solidified the school’s identity as Makerere High School, Migadde, offering a complete and well-rounded educational experience in a tranquil countryside setting.
