The school faced a critical moment in 1972 when the expulsion of Indian nationals from Uganda threatened its closure. Local parents intervened, saving the school and ensuring its continuity. Since then, Old Kampala Primary School has grown steadily while maintaining its commitment to quality education. The institution has benefited from government grants, such as the 2,353,337 shillings ($1,345) received in 2006, which have helped sustain basic operations, though additional funding remains crucial for infrastructure, library resources, and improved furnishings.
