St. Savio Junior School History

St. Savio Junior School was founded in 1954 by the Brothers of Christian Instruction (FIC), inspired by Rev. Fr. Jean Marie de la Mennais and Rev. Fr. Gabriel Deshayes. The Brothers came to Uganda in 1926 at the invitation of the White Fathers to support education and evangelization. St. Savio began with 25 students under Rev. Bro. Aderit Murray, alongside notable staff including Mr. Kakoma George, composer of Uganda’s National Anthem. The school evolved from the Junior Secondary system into an upper primary school after national educational reforms. By 1985, it had become a full primary school with two streams, strengthened by its historic partnership with Mugwanya Preparatory School Kabojja.

St. Savio Junior School remains committed to producing well-rounded boys who can serve God and society with excellence. The school upholds the founding mission of making Jesus Christ known and loved through education. Pupils are trained to grow spiritually, morally, socially, and intellectually. The school’s culture emphasizes discipline, active participation, good character, and community responsibility. With a strong heritage and a nurturing environment, St. Savio continues to shape boys into confident and responsible young men.
