St. Mary’s College Kisubi | SMACK History

St. Mary’s College Kisubi was founded in 1906 by Rev. Fr. Modeste Raux of the White Fathers Congregation and later came under the ownership of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kampala. Originally located in Rubaga, the school relocated to Kisubi in 1924 after receiving land from Kabaka Mutesa I due to space limitations. Over the years, SMACK evolved from a lower primary section to a college offering commercial and higher education, with its students quickly gaining national and regional recognition for academic excellence.

In 1926, the Brothers of Christian Instruction from Canada took over administration, further strengthening the school’s foundation in discipline and scholarship. By 1936, the school had introduced the Cambridge School Certificate (C.S.C), cementing its reputation as a center of academic excellence in East Africa.

Today, St. Mary’s College Kisubi stands as one of Uganda’s most respected educational institutions—an embodiment of faith-based excellence and holistic learning. The school continues to attract hundreds of students each year for Senior One and Senior Five intakes, owing to its outstanding academic performance, value-based education, and commitment to nurturing future leaders.
