Cambridge Secondary School

About

Curriculum:

Cambridge Secondary School (CSS) is a unique, self-supporting, not-for-profit institution that grew out of a sanctuary. It was initially founded by Mrs. Kevin Kalule upon her retirement as a shelter and counseling center for young children escaping from poverty, war, AIDS orphanhood, and child labour. Upon realizing the profound need for a long-term solution, the shelter was transformed into a secondary school to provide these vulnerable children with an education. We provide quality high school education to up to 400 students between the ages of 14-20, alongside valuable life lessons in personal responsibility and mental healthcare counseling for former child soldiers and those rescued from child labour.

Cambridge Secondary School Academics

Cambridge Secondary School offers education as its primary service and is registered by The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) under registration number U2416. We offer a complete secondary education with both Ordinary Level (O-Level) and Advanced Level (A-Level) classes, spanning from Senior One to Senior Six. Our examinations are set and strictly monitored under UNEB regulations. Students who successfully pass their Senior Four and Senior Six UNEB Examinations receive the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), respectively.

Cambridge Secondary School Co-curricular

Students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities to nurture their talents and personal development:

  • Suubi Drama Club: The school’s drama club has won several local awards and collaborates with supporters in Canada. Students tour Canadian cities to showcase Ugandan culture, dance, and life, while raising funds for the school. These activities help students rediscover and develop their talents, boosting confidence and creativity.

  • Sports Club: The school offers sports such as Netball (for girls), Volleyball (for both boys and girls), Football (for boys), Dodgeball, and Chase.

  • Other Clubs: Students can join Debating, Interact, Nkobazambogo (for cultural preservation), and the CNN-Cambridge News Network, which provides weekly updates on local and international news.
