Iganga High School is a mixed public secondary school offering both O’ and A’ level education. It is located on plot No. 56 along Mpiindi Road, 200 meters from the central round-about, approximately 118 km from Kampala. The school was originally started in 1967 as Vithaldas Haridas Primary School and later became Vithaldas Haridas Secondary School before being renamed Iganga High School when taken over by the government in 1976.
Iganga High School has consistently maintained good academic performance at both Ordinary and Advanced levels. The school’s mission is to equip students with knowledge and skills for self-reliance, while its vision is to create well-balanced individuals capable of meeting the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
Students at Iganga High School participate in various clubs and societies including debating, wildlife, patriotism, and Straight Talk. Sports activities include football, volleyball, netball, chess, and darts, fostering both physical fitness and team spirit.
Iganga High School has well-equipped science and computer laboratories, a stocked library for students and teachers, and separate hostels for boys and girls. Health services are supported by a school clinic with a permanent nurse and visiting doctor. Students are provided with three meals a day, and transportation is facilitated by a school truck, bus, and pickup for excursions and field trips.
