Kisubi Seminary is a private secondary school located in Wakiso District, Busiro County, just one mile off the Entebbe–Kampala highway (15 miles from Kampala) along Nabinoonya Road. The school is beautifully situated on Kibaale Hill in Kisubi, surrounded by lush greenery and natural forest, with its eastern boundary touching the shoreline of Lake Victoria.
Founded in 1951 by the Missionaries of Africa, Kisubi Seminary was established to nurture vocations to the priesthood while providing holistic education to young men from across Uganda and neighboring countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Kisubi Seminary offers both Ordinary Level (O’ Level) and Advanced Level (A’ Level) education, providing a balanced curriculum that includes both Arts and Science subjects. The six-year academic journey equips students with intellectual, moral, and spiritual knowledge necessary for success in priestly formation or other professional fields. Over the years, Kisubi Seminary has consistently ranked among the top-performing schools in Uganda, with students frequently featuring among the best nationwide.
The seminary provides a variety of co-curricular activities to promote holistic development. Students participate in sports such as football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and lawn tennis to foster physical fitness and teamwork. There are also numerous clubs including the Debating Club, Writers’ Club, Scouting Club, Wildlife Club, ICT Club, Red Cross Club, Typing Club, Drama and Music Club, Youth Alive Club, and French Club. Religious movements such as the Young Christian Society (Y.C.S), Legion of Mary, Apostleship of Prayer, Miraculous Medal, and Uganda Martyrs Movement strengthen students’ spiritual and moral formation.
Kisubi Seminary offers a serene and conducive learning environment with spacious classrooms, modern dormitories, a well-stocked library, science laboratories, a computer room, and a chapel for spiritual nourishment. The school also features sports fields and recreational areas that support both academic and extracurricular engagement, ensuring the all-round development of students.
Kisubi Seminary’s mission is to nurture and develop vocations of young people by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for them to function productively as Catholic priests. Its vision is to equip students with mental, spiritual, social, and physical skills to serve effectively as priests or competent professionals in other vocations. Although not all students proceed to the priesthood, they all benefit from the seminary’s holistic formation—academically, spiritually, morally, and socially. The seminary attracts students from across Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, creating a diverse and enriching learning community.
