The school originally began at the site that now houses St. Mary’s Seminary in Virika, Fort Portal, attracting pupils from St. Peter’s Primary School and other Catholic primary schools. In the early 1930s, the White Fathers invited the Brothers of Christian Instruction to take over the institution. By the 1960s, the school moved to its current location on a hill overlooking the plains of the Rwenzori Mountains and parts of Fort Portal town. It was also at this time that Moses Nyakazingwa became the first black headmaster, marking a new era in the school’s leadership.
