Amazima Secondary School was established in 2017 as part of Amazima Ministries, founded by Katie Davis, who moved to Uganda in 2007 and devoted her life to serving children. “Amazima” means “truth” in Luganda, reflecting the school’s commitment to transforming lives, restoring relationships, and building communities through the truth of Jesus Christ. Located in Uganda, the school provides a boarding environment for over 400 students, offering both a loving home and a high-quality education.
Amazima Secondary School offers a comprehensive academic program from S1 to S6, emphasizing critical thinking, creativity, and excellence in all subjects. The curriculum is delivered by well-trained educators from around the world, ensuring that students receive a rigorous and holistic education. By integrating a Christian worldview with strong academics, Amazima equips students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to succeed in higher education and in life.
Beyond academics, Amazima encourages students to develop character, leadership, and teamwork through co-curricular programs. Activities include sports leagues, arts, music, drama, service projects, small groups, and weekly devotionals. These opportunities allow students to apply their faith practically, grow socially and emotionally, and develop talents in diverse areas, creating well-rounded individuals prepared for life’s challenges.
Spiritual Impact
Amazima’s mission is rooted in discipleship and spiritual growth. Every aspect of school life is designed to nurture students spiritually and personally. Through mentorship, service projects, small group sessions, and devotionals, students are guided to live out biblical principles daily. This holistic approach ensures that students grow in faith, character, and purpose, integrating spiritual development with academic and personal excellence.
The school provides safe, comfortable boarding facilities, nutritious meals, and recreational areas that support both learning and personal growth. Students receive individualized mentorship and guidance, helping them thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. Amazima prioritizes student well-being, holistic development, and a supportive environment, ensuring every child has the opportunity to flourish and reach their full potential.
Beading Circle. Women spend hours sitting on their banana fiber mats or old wooden stools, surrounded by their children and community members, making paper beads. These beads are made from recycled magazine paper, sealed with a shiny finish and threaded along with tiny glass beads to create unique jewelry.
Farming Outreach. In an effort to continually improve our programs and help the families we work with become more self-reliant, the Amazima Farming Outreach was started in 2012. A need was observed to assist parents and guardians of children in our Scholarship Program to become better equipped in caring for their families. Since our Education Scholarship Outreach operates in a rural area, the majority of our families are subsistence farmers.
Medical Outreach. We have a clinic in Buziika which serves our Scholarship Program students with the required care. If we are unable to handle the medical needs at our clinic in Buziika, we refer our patients to select hospitals in Jinja and Kampala for further specialized treatment and care.
At Amazima, every student is valued as a unique creation made in the image of God. The school emphasizes Christian values, servant leadership, and nurturing relationships alongside academic achievement. Students benefit from invested family mentors, experienced international teachers, nutritious meals, and a safe, supportive environment. The school fosters personal growth, character development, and a strong moral foundation, preparing students to live purposefully in service to God and society.
