Zana Mixed Secondary School
About
Curriculum: Uganda National Examinations Board Curriculum (UNEB)
Zana Mixed Secondary School is a mixed secondary school in the Zana/Bunamwaya area of Makindye-Ssabagabo, Wakiso District, offering both O-Level and A-Level education under the Uganda national curriculum. Ministry and UNEB placement records list the school among private secondary institutions, in the O & A category with mixed day and boarding provision.
The school has produced a notable line of professional footballers who passed through its classrooms, and has a growing presence in national school sport, even though its own public documentation remains thin — a gap this page is a first step toward closing.
Zana Mixed Secondary School Academics
The school sat 17 candidates for UACE History in 2024, and appears in the 2025 UCE national school ranking based on grades. It has not yet appeared in the published top tiers of Uganda’s national UCE or UACE rankings, but it sits national exams every year as an active UNEB centre.
Zana Mixed Secondary School Co-curricular
The school fields competitive teams in USSSA’s national secondary-school sports programme, including boys’ football and girls’ 3×3 basketball, and reached the Wakiso zonal football final in 2024 before losing to defending champions Aidan College on penalties in 2025.
Zana Mixed Secondary School Alumni
Former students include Uganda Cranes and KCCA FC defender Isa Mubiru, who completed his Senior Four at Zana Mixed; URA FC’s Moses Sseruyidde; footballer Allan Kayiwa; and musician Jowy Landa (Joanita Namugerwa), who was still a student at Zana Mixed when she began pursuing music professionally.
